instruction project

Kirk, here is the part of constructing the game board that you asked for I will explain to the best of my knowledge. the rough construction of the board.

The equipment you will need is 4' X 11' plywood board, table saw or skill saw, router with 1/2 inch round edger, 1/2 inch router indent bit, measuring tape, straight edge, and pencil.

  • first step is to use the strait edge to outline the board
  • this will be a hexagon with each edge measuring 15"
  • using the straight edge to make each edge equal
  • after making the measurements and lines take out the table saw or skill saw
  • If using the table saw you will need a miter jig to make sure each line is cut straight ( warning using the table saw is very difficult and should done with the help of someone)
  • using the skill saw is easier but will splinter the wood
  • after making cuts along the lines drawn put the board on a sturdy table and make dots along the edge in 3/4 inch at the centers which will equal eighteen holes on each side
  • now with the board held down with someone else take the router with the edge attachment to round the edges if you wish you can round each side or just one side
  • after the edges are rounded replace the bit with the indention bit
  • secure the board with wood clamps to a table
  • take the router and at each mark that was made earlier make an indention that is about 3/8 of an inch deep so that the marbles will sit in them and not roll out

This will make the board ready to sand down, paint, stain, and seal. If you need clarification on any step contact me any way and I will help you any way possible.

Post one

I chose this layout because it s basic with little to any variation or personality and is easy to find something spacific.
